last night i went to the Wharf to attend the opening night of Border Project's Highway Rock 'n' Roll Disaster, presented as a side project by the Sydney Theatre Company. my extremely talented friend dave is in it, and his band, Lions at Your Door, played afterwards. the play only runs for 10 days, but if you're in sydney, i really do recommend you try and see it. (plus, if you're under 30, you get discounted tix). fueled by copious amounts of white vino, my friend cam and i cheered along at the play, then did a little grove upstairs at the mezzanine where the band played. no cate or andrew sightings i'm sorry to report (but probably a good thing as i'm betting i'd go all gushy in front of ms blanchett) but all in all, a really fun night. so nice to be able to sit and drink outside now too, without getting your tootsies frozen off.
oh and do yourself a favour and check out Lions At Your Door. if you haven't heard of them yet you will be soon. they have been working their little butts off lately, playing all around australia + japan, at Nylon parties and are just about to release their first EP. this is their myspace page (my fave is 'Crossfire' -- the violin gives it such an eclectic feel).
